| One of the world's leading agricultural economists, T.W. Schultz, recently published an estimate of the effect of the adoption of new techniques on the efficiency of United States' agriculture. Schultz estimated the average increase in efficiency at from 0.8 per cent to 1.35 per cent per annum over the period 1910 to 1950, the rate of increase being even higher in recent years. The statistics available do not permit a similar calculation for Australia. | En Zélande, province des Pays-Bas, l’on trouve différentes stations où croissent des algues marines. Ce sont: 1. Les digues, 2. Les canaux d’eau de mer, 3. Les parcs à huîtres, 4. Les slikkes et les schorres. La Zélande comprend une bande continentale et deux séries d’îles. Comparé aux autres provinces des Pays-Bas, le climat est assez tempéré. La température moyenne à Flessingue (Vlissingen) est de 3°C en janvier, le mois le plus froid, et de 18°C durant les mois les plus chauds, juillet et août. La température moyenne de l’eau de mer en surface est de 1— 3°C en janvier et de 19°C en juillet et août. |

| The collections of Dermaptera in the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie at Leiden and the Zoölogisch Museum at Amsterdam, referred to in the present paper as "Museum Leiden" and "Museum Amsterdam", consist of numerous specimens including many types described by previous authors and a fairly large number of hitherto unidentified examples. A reinvestigation and an identification of the unidentified material therefore promised interesting results, a promise which has been fulfilled. The investigations took place during the war years 1942 and 1943 under unfavorable circumstances. | Although from 1255 up till now about 47 Physeter macrocephalus have been cast upon the coast of the Netherlands, or have come ashore alive, but very few materials have been preserved and we are in the possession of only two specimens, those of 1937, the complete skeletons of which are preserved in the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden. Apart from these skeletons the following fragments are preserved : 1. The damaged upper part of the skull and three vertebrae from the animal of Scheveningen, 1617. | This paper deals with some testes of Crotalaria as forage, using rabbits as laboratory animals to detect toxicity, at Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil. 1. C. intermedia and C. juncea were palatable, non toxic, the last more productive. Tests on cattle are recommended and selection to improve characteristics as forage too. 2. C. incana and C. verrucosa were little palatable, probably non toxic, poor productive. 3. C. paulina, C. lanceolata (four strains), C. mysorensis, C. gratiana, C. spectabilis, C. breviflora and C. campista were toxic. This results are not according those of others AA. Others species are beeing tested since Crotalaria is a drought resistent legume on this area. |

| Le navire de recherches «Président Théodore Tissier », déréquisitionné, remis en état par la Marine Nationale, a effectué une première campagne en juillet 1946 pour étudier les conditions hydrologiques en Manche, à l'entrée occidentale de cette mer et sur les hauts-fonds du Plateau continental Celte.
